Maintaining healthy curves consists of three parts; Your mind, body and soul, which are all vital elements in having a healthy life. In many cases loving yourself can be the start of your journey in leading a balanced lifestyle. So, let's dive into some tips on how to stay whole and healthy by understanding the importance of having a positive outlook about your curves, how you can maintain them and still be who you are. The first tip on staying whole and healthy is
Working on your state of mind
Always having to understand yourself, trying to be the best version of you, AND loving every inch of your body is a constant work in progress. However, once it becomes a part of your routine, mentally being strong will be second nature and your body will love you for it. Your mind is one of the trickiest muscles and it needs to be exercised on a daily basis. The world tends to bring down women within the plus size community and if your state of mind isn’t strong, you won’t have the motivation or power to be a healthy plus size and maintain your curves. So take the time to understand what a healthy state of mind means to YOU and create a plan to support that. The second tip for staying whole and healthy is
To stay active
Despite what people say, having a curvy body doesn’t mean you are unhealthy. For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body( 1 Corinthians 6:20) So regardless of your size, being strong and active can go a long way. You can still live a quality life without having to restrict yourself of the things that you enjoy, but having an active lifestyle can be beneficial to your overall health. If you believe that the gym is where you can achieve this active lifestyle, don’t hesitate to go because you’re feeling insecure about your curves. Take on the gym feeling bold and courageous because at the end of the day, you are beautiful and you are doing something for your own health. Keep in mind that as it is your eager expectation and hope that you will not be at all ashamed, but that with full coverage now as always Christ will be honored in your body(Philippians 1:20). The third and last tip to staying whole and healthy is to
Take care of your soul
Your soul is the most important out of all the three, so treat it delicately and with the most utmost respect. Your soul maintains the drive you need to keep moving forward and to not quit on yourself. So watch over your heart (soul) with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23) In order to maintain that momentum you need to surround yourself with body positivity. If that means bringing a friend along with you to take that walk or an accountability partner that reminds you of the important reason to why you chose to live a healthier lifestyle. If your lacking the heart to maintain your curves, there are many blogs, books and mantras that you can research to get you motivated in acquiring the drive to be the best version of yourself.
Accomplishing all three parts of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not easy, but in life it is important to grow, stay mindful and reach your ultimate self. John Ortberg once said in an interview "The essential parts of the person are the will (the freedom and creativity to say yes and no and bring things into being), the mind (including thoughts and feelings), our bodies (which are filled with appetites and habits that largely govern our behavior), and the soul, which ties these all together. In a healthy soul, the body has been trained to obey the will; the will in turn consistently chooses what the mind knows to be good, all the parts work together in harmony, and are peaceably connected with God, creation, and (to the extent possible) other people. The unhealthy soul is the opposite."(check out the rest of the interview here How to care for your soul). So remembering that size is not what makes you healthy is an important message for plus size women who think that being big is unhealthy because being actively plus size can lead you to a healthier curvy life. So in this NEW YEAR make sure you focus on your goals, what makes you happy and create a routine that includes being mentally, physically and spiritually healthy and whole.
